THE 26th JUNE, 2020 of GLOBAL DAY of ACTION CAMPAIGN;
Once again, the entire global world collective network movement ranging from drugs user community, grass-roots community-leader, regional and international drugs movement, as well as the international human rights organization are coming together to stand in solidarity with Support Don't Punish, by engaging to organise and host these year annual community event of the Global Day of Action, on 26th June, 2020.
Support Don't Punish campaign movement, was established and launched since 2013, recognise as part of the highly annual event whereby about 100 cities worldwide are taking part to host for the global day of action, that is held every 26th of June. Initially, 26th June is also marked as the global remembrance day for United Nations' (UN) International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking - a day on where majority State government celebrate their contribution to the global wars on drugs, opted to conduct an public executions or beatings of drugs offender.
HOW LOCAL PARTNER OF SUPPORT DON'T PUNISH HAVE CONTRIBUTING TO THE CAMPAIGN PAST ACTIVITIES;
Support Don't Punish, is a global grassroots-centre initiative in support of harm reduction and drugs policy that prioritise public health and human rights. The global campaign seeks to put harm reduction on each of the national/domestic political agenda by strengthening the mobilisation capacity of affected communities and their allies, opening dialogue with policy makers, and raising awareness among the media and the public.
The campaign’s Global Day of Action seeks to reclaim and shift that day’s narrative. And so, every year, an increasing number of activists in dozens of cities all over the world join this unique and multifaceted show of force for reform and harm reduction. There is an endless list of actions or events that can be organised on this day in cities around the world.
These are organised by local partners and networks – and include public gatherings, flash mobs, art displays, workshops, music events, sports events, press conferences, panel discussions and report launches. By prominently displaying one of the SUPPORT DON’T PUNISH logos at these actions (such as on t-shirts, posters or banners), these local events become part of a global show of force for reform.
Reaffirms the commitment by the General Assembly to respecting, protecting and promoting all human rights, fundamental freedoms and the inherent dignity of all individuals and the rule of law in the development and implementation of drug policies, and to take the steps necessary to implement the operational recommendations contained in the outcome document of its thirtieth special session, in close partnership with the United Nations and other intergovernmental organizations and civil society, and to share with the Commission on Narcotic Drugs timely information on progress made in the implementation of those recommendations; Article 2 of A/HRC/RES/37/42
WHAT ARE THE LEVEL OF ACCEPTANCE AND OTHER CHALLENGES FACED BY LOCAL PARTNER OF SUPPORT DON'T PUNISH IN COORDINATING FOR THE UPCOMING EVENT ACTIVITIES TO SUIT WITHIN THE LOCALISATION LEVEL;
